This is the eighth and final week of the Fall 2022 One Room Challenge. Thank you so much for visiting and following along with this project!
All the guest participant links can be found on the One Room Challenge blog! You can also visit the week 8 link up page directly here. This is an awesome event where everyone supports each other and has a great time working towards their own goals in these 8 weeks, so I hope you check out lots of participants

This room brings such a smile to my face, especially with the morning sun streaming in. We left our design comfort zone a little bit, and we had two pretty big functions to fit into this room. After eight weeks of updates, this is now a space I’ll spend lots of time in, and I think it’ll be very welcoming to guests as well.

Our new picture rail means that it is super easy to add in new art, like these two pieces around our treadmill.

Our Tonal is set up and ready for workouts, with new switch plates and outlet covers that tie into the black metal of the workout equipment.
While this room will be a home gym for most of the time, we wanted it to be able to transform into a cozy guest room with Art Deco styling. By rolling up the gym mats, folding up the treadmill, and opening up the Murphy bed, we can get this space guest-ready quickly!

We have a good amount of storage available to guests between the antique Art Deco armoire and the nightstand (affiliate link) with two good-sized drawers and sculptural geometric detailing that calls to the chevron designs of the antique. The Brynn table lamp from Mitzi and the blue and brass mirror from Opalhouse designed with Jungalow add lots of function for guests and tie in even more of a modern Art Deco style.

With the treadmill folded out of the way, the queen bed creates a great sleeping space without feeling cramped. We love the Helix Midnight mattress for this space because it’s very cushioning without being too thick to fold into the Murphy bed, and the Dream pillows that were a free gift with purchase are very plush as well. We rounded out the comfy bedding with a few cute throw pillows from Target that tied into the orange and blues in the room, along with a down alternative comforter tucked into this medallion duvet cover from Threshold by Target.

Here’s some detail shots, including the Tonal accessories stashed away in the armoire, closeups of the art and the picture hanging system we are using with the rails, and even more of that beautiful fall light coming in through the tops of our windows thanks to the Blinds.com top-down cellular shades we installed. You can even see the chain from Rockler (affiliate link) we installed to keep the armoire door from swinging open too far – it feels very consistent with the piece’s style!
I really love the bouquet (affiliate link) I found to go into an antique brass vase – it has that burnt orange color pop and the leaves are soft green (and even gold) which feels like a very unique touch. A few more practical yet still beautiful elements were this alarm clock (affiliate link) and faux shagreen catch-all tray (affiliate link). Faux shagreen is a more environmentally friendly way to get that shagreen look that was popular in Art Deco styles, but as it’s still a pricey finish choice, picking a small element like a tray is a great option on a budget.

If you’ve been following along through all my posts, you might wonder what happened to the wallpaper install on the Murphy bed panels. Our installer wasn’t able to make it here before reveal day, but I’ll make sure to update once that extra pop of color and detail is added to the space.
